Generic Conventions of a Comedy
Camera:
The camera is very natural and follows the characters.
Usually high shots are used in a comedy to capture the whole event that is happening in that scene.
Medium shots are used in a comedy to catch all of the characters expressions within the shot.
Iconography:
Bright colours such as blue, yellow are the most common colours used in a comedy as they are fun and happy.
Regarding the lighting it is most often very bright and shot during the day time.
And wit the props that are used, there are usually sports equipment such as footballs, golf clubs for example which will be used for comedic use such as humorous accidents, and also the most generic one being a banana skin on the floor.
Characters:
Idiotic, very stupid, accident prone
Smart, socially awkward
Regular people, accidents occur around them - sarcastic
Themes:
Anarchic comedy
Parody
Romantic comedy
Screwball comedy
Slapstick
Sports comedy
